This Love.

Image
He is my first love. The One who has known me yet loved me from the beginning of time. When I stay close to Him, I act out of a place of deep security. Like when a child decides to be brave and jump off the edge into the pool because they know their mom or dad is going to be there waiting when they jump in. This sense of security is not the world’s definition of it. It’s a security in having a constant and unwavering love following me wherever I go. This love is an everyday kind of love. Every morning I’m in it. This love is an everyday kind of love.   Every evening I’m in it. /This Love by Housefires/                 Even while I am unaware of it, I am in it. Even when I jump out of bed to start my day without giving it a thought, I am in this love. Even while I too busy to consider it, it follows me and hovers over me. This love surrounds me and showers me. He waits for me and goes before...

My Weapon is a Melody

The Lord has been revealing the power there is in a song. There is so much power in the words we speak and the things we declare with our mouths. The things we say can either bring life or death. Words are never empty. I have found they often cause very tangible things to happen in both the physical and spiritual realm.                        “A gentle tongue is a tree of life, but perverseness in it breaks the spirit.” (Proverbs 15:4) I have loved listening to the song Raise A Hallelujah  by Bethel because each line declares the power of what it looks like to sing and praise amidst the most difficult trials in life. I will praise in the presence of my enemies . I will praise louder than my unbelief . I will praise in the middle of the storm . I will praise, I will worship because He is worthy. He is worthy of the song I sing and the breath in my lungs. I have been finding so muc...

The Great Undoing

Image
Jesus has a way of undoing us. Undoing us completely in His presence so all of us is exposed and bare before Him. It is amazing to be truly known and yet still fully loved. Jesus undoes us so we can be re-wrapped in the garment of His glory. There are two different ways the Lord has shown me that He can undo us. “To be loved but not known is comforting but superficial. To be known and not loved is our greatest fear. But to be fully known and truly loved is, well, a lot like being loved by God. It is what we need more than anything. It liberates us from pretense, humbles us out of our self-righteousness, and fortifies us for any difficulty life can throw at us.” (Timothy J. Keller, The Meaning of Marriage ) One of the ways God walks us through the process of undoing is by undoing the things of our past and returning us back to our original design. He has a way of undoing and unraveling the sin, the hurt, and the mistakes and re-wrapping us in the beauty of His love. As I was rea...

This is Only The Beginning

This blog has been birthed out of a nudging from the Lord. A nudging that has come from the creative heart of God and one that has proven His ability to give of Himself in greater ways. When I told Him I didn't know what I would say, He told me He would give me the words. When I told Him I didn't think I had the strength, He told me He had enough to spare. When I told Him I didn't think I could do it, He told me He can do more than I could ask or imagine. Immeasurably more.  Let me dive into the process of what brought this blog about and what I feel God is calling this blog to be. Over the last few months when I have felt a revelation come from the Lord, there has been a strong desire prompting me to want to share what the Lord has just revealed. The things I feel the Lord showing me end up filling my journal and the ears of the people closest to me, but lately, I have felt the Lord directing me to share with a broader community. Starting a blog was one of the first...
